I just finished book 9 in the Detective Erlendur series,  STRANGE SHORES. This is the last book in this series and it all started with JAR CITY. I highly recommend starting with Jar City and reading them in natural order.

Indridason is an Icelandic author of great repute and has sold over 7 million copies of his books worldwide. He worked many years as a journalist and critic before writing mystery novels.

His descriptions of Iceland and the social and economic conditions that have and still exist give the reader an insight into ICELAND. Detective Erlendur has memories that haunt him from his childhood (don’t we all?) and these are carried through the novel series to show how we all develop and react to life accordingly to our earlier beginnings.

There is always a twist at the ending that you just couldn’t quite see coming………yep, several of one of those “Aha!” moments.
