I HAD A REQUEST TO GIVE MY VIEWS ON “GAY MARRIAGE”

I’m against it! But it isn’t as simple as that! Nothing that is a “hot topic’ such as gay marriage is simple to have an opinion about.

I believe that any relationship can survive and thrive without any legal or binding document to declare or seal the agreement between the involved individuals……………..emotionally!  We live in a complicated society and without some type of legal documentation expressing our wishes…….in times of death, illness, divorce, hardships, etc. our wishes may not be respected and carried out! So for those reasons some type of “legal documentation” is a great idea!

For “gay people” or any couple or groups there are plenty of options for legal protection of our wishes and intentions without having a conventional marriage.

Why not have a gay marriage…………..why am I against it?

For any society to succeed in maintaining order and prospering with happiness, the rules for living legally and “understood rules and mores” must be followed or stability won’t be realized.

The majority of people, at least in the United States don’t believe in gay marriage. To force it on them by trying to make it o.k. and accepted by the masses only makes them dislike it and the people who push it on them even more.

I believe if you live in a democracy and the majority of the people believe in the morality or legality of a certain issue effecting the masses you should honor the majority………especially if you are not directly effected by it!  And to me gay marriage having it or not does not limit me in any way. I’ve taken care of my legal and personal affairs in other ways.

Every one has the right to believe differently than I do.

Points to Ponder: 1. If you know that a snake will bite you if you hit it or step on it, why not avoid it?!

2. If you know where the sharks are…………..why go in the water?!

Pursue Happiness…………not discord and danger! Be Happy! Don’t Worry!

“APPEARANCE”……………..DOES IT MATTER HOW YOU LOOK?

I’ve addressed (no pun intended!) this topic before and I’m sure everyone understands how we appear to other people matters in all situations: people judge us first on how we look to them…………then how we speak……….then how we act………..then how we  follow-up on promises, etc. So, how we look is a BIG part of success or failure in our relationships!

An article in the local paper today states that  “Gay characters  are at record high levels on network TV” !!!! Previously I’ve mentioned how “bothered” I am by the stereotypical characters that are presently part of this 4.4% of gay characters that are on TV this year and next. This segment of the gay society is being presented as WHAT ALL GAY PEOPLE LOOK LIKE AND ACT.

IT JUST AIN’T SO!  ONE OF THE MOST RESPECTED AND GOOD LOOKING MALE PERSONALITIES  ON TV IS ANDERSON COOPER! Now here is a guy with whom I can relate. Smart and respectable………..career oriented……..good person all around! Not to say that the gay people on TV don’t have all of those qualities……….mayby they do but appearances may turn some people off before they have the time to find out!

O.K. I REST MY CASE……………ALL OF YOU YOUNG PEOPLE OUT THERE THAT DON’T RELATE TO THE TYPE OF GAY PEOPLE YOU SEE ON TV OR IN THE COMMUNITY, OR IN BOOKS, MOVIES, ON THE STREET…………THERE IS ANOTHER ROLE MODEL OUT THERE THAT JUST MIGHT HAVE THE “COAT’ THAT YOU WILL BE COMFORTABLE  IN WHILE WEARING IT!

Choices! Choices! Choices! Did I choose to be “gay”? If not, then why not just “snap out of it”, just don’t be gay, just stop it!?

DID I CHOOSE TO BE WHITE, TO HAVE BLUE EYES, TO BE 6 FT. 3″ TALL, TO BE BRILLIANT, TO WIN THE LOTTERY? WELL IF I DID I MISSED OUT ON A LOT OF THAT!!!!!!!

SO WHY AM I HERE AS I AM? JUST THINK ABOUT IT!     FOR A PERSON WHO STRONGLY BELIEVES IN “FITTING IN” AND DEMOCRACY (GOING WITH THE FLOW OF THE MAJORITY) WHY WOULD I CHOOSE TO BE DIFFERENT!!!!!????? BEING DIFFERENT HURTS!

PERHAPS I’M HERE IN THIS BODY IN THIS LIFETIME TO LEARN ABOUT DIVERSITY, WHAT IT FEELS LIKE TO BE DIFFERENT. WELL, I’VE REALLY LEARNED ABOUT THAT!

SO, WITH SO MANY CHOICES DID I MAKE THE CHOICE TO BE GAY OR DID GOD!? GOD CREATED MAN, THE UNIVERSE AND ALL THINGS!

IN MY CASE, DID GOD MAKE A MISTAKE?

JUST THINK ABOUT IT!!!!

THIS WILL BE A NEW SERIES OF BLOGS CONCERNING AN ISSUE THAT I’VE HESITATED TO CONSIDER IN THE PAST………..NOW I’M READY!

One of my reasons for not “coming out” in writing before now is simple: Books have been written about the subject, it’s nothing new but I’m realizing now that there are so many WRONG ideas and impressions that abound today about “gay people”. By the way I hate that term almost as bad as being called a Faggot! Many homosexual people are not happy or  gay! They’re not “crooked” and they are not “straight”……………..they are just “different” in some ways than other people. Now, truthfully who isn’t?!!!  What a dull world this would be if we were all exactly alike!?

Television has thrown a lot of sexual information out there over the last 50 years as have books. But instead of creating a true picture of what homosexuals look like and act, stereotypes have been created that represent only a FEW of the possible combinations possible!!!! And many of the ones depicted are just awfully wrong!

I am not an activist! I don’t believe in throwing ideas (life styles) or anything else (like politics and religion)  in people’s faces! I won’t make speeches, walk or participate in parades, or write letters to the newspapers or rag sheets.  

My intention in this blog is to present one individual, myself,  as one of the possibilities that can exist in the so-called “gay world”!

But what finally forced me to put in my “2 cents worth of opinion” is the characters portrayed on GLEE…………..the TV phenom! Great show, great acting, great music, but if it were the only show in TV, the world would think there are only 2 different types of  “gay people” out there and all parents are supportive as well as the major part of society………..and unfortunately it just ain’t so! To date I don’t believe there is a character on regular TV or in the movies like me!

Not that I’m special………………just an example that won’t sell papers, books or make a TV series………..and that is just my point!  The reason people like me can “hide” so easily is that most of the oublic don’t think we exists! And that is my point………..the image that is prevalent isn’t representing all of us. AND it isn’t wrong for “gay individuals”   ( and though I don’t like that term, it does unfortunately picture what most people recognize us as being) to be like me, an ordinary person who has more straight friends than gay ones!

Young gay people in particular need to know that! I remember all of my life when seeing the really obvious ones of us in public I thought, ” That’s not me! I’m not like that! I must not be gay then!” AH! But I was and am! I knew when I was 8-9 years old that I WAS DIFFERENT! But I didn’t meet “one of us” until I was 22 years old and I thought OMG it’s alright for me to be like I am! I’m not alone! I’m not the only one!

So parents, brothers, sisters, classmates, teachers, preachers……….ALL OF YOU………….check into this blog………..add your comments and information…………ask questions…….BUT most of all learn that what you think is the truth may be just part of the story. And I’m going to add another piece of the puzzle!

JUSTICE FOR ALL!!!!!!!!!!! GOOD FOR GOOD………………BAD FOR BAD!!!!!!

Praise the good………..reward them……………help them……….bless them. They deserve it!

Punish the bad! ………penalize them…………hinder them…….shun them………..banish them………refuse blessings.  They deserve it!

You see it is very simple! A good form of justice and punishment!   AND YET, it isn’t that simple after all!

A lot of civilizations have been built and prevailed on just those terms! And a lot of them have failed on those same principles!

So what complicates it? Well, throw in religion………..bias…………..caste systems………..prejudices…………..myths…………..governments, etc. and it gets even more muddled!

We are born into different life situations. We grow up and are educated by family, friends, governments, religions, ecosystems, and genetic born traits!

We make choices and live the consequences. We learn. We grow…………..never ending process.

The supposedly “good” books teach us that even those whom we may think don’t deserve second, third, fourth…….and on chances…….DO! Turn that cheek! Give to the poor and down trodden! Bless those that lie and cheat and steal and commit murder and incest and other horrible sex crimes. YES, forgive them for they know not what they do! They really didn’t mean it!

Give that addict another chance! Support those too lazy to get out and work money to do whatever they want to do with it! They deserve it! You are no better than they are………………they are just having a really bad time of it.

This Christmas so many people have given from their hearts to all kinds of wonderful causes…………as well they should. Some people receive help that we may think don’t deserve it……………in order to help those that really do! In some cases I’m sure people’s lives have been turned around and changed by a simple act of kindness. I believe in that!

When drivers run you off the road because they are texting! Jump in front of you in line! Give you the finger when you alert them that they have cut you off at the path! Don’t get mad! Bless them and let them go!

Well, it ain’t that easy! I find it hard to give to those who won’t help themselves! I find it hard to do for those who I think don’t deserve squat in order to help somebody that does need and deserve it! Those that break the rules of society ought to have to pay! Those that make choices that make them sick and miserable and unhappy ought to have to live with those choices in order to learn the difference between what works and what doesn’t!

We are here on this Earth to learn to be happy……………..to learn what is good and what is so-called bad! We have to know what is good in order to know what is bad.

So somehow I was born with this great sense of JUSTICE! Those that are and do good should be rewarded as such and those who do bad should pay the price. I’m stuck with that!

I will continue to try my best to love the bad and forgive them………………….love the lazy and sloven………….love the unfortunate and help them…………….BUT I will also continue to let my gut feeling guide my decisions and I’ll never help again somebody that I don’t think should get my help (let somebody else do it) in order to keep somebody else’s feelings from getting hurt.

My greatest hurts and pains in life come from doing something out of guilt that somebody laid on me and from doing something I don’t believe in to keep somebody from being mad at me. No more.

I still  hope all people get exactly what they deserve! I can live with that!
